All - OK guys, here's the next act in the same 'ol play. Last nite, went for a 90 mile evening ride and after having thought everything was fixed, it started doing it again! On full throttle 60-63 was it. However there was a couple of times at the most inopportune time, it came on like you had just flipped a switch to turn on nitrous oxide. At about this speed apparently the main jet is just opening. One time was in the middle of a turn the next time nearly had me rear end a passing car. The problem is definitely the slide. My next trial fix will be to use a more heat tolerant lubricant on the slide. WD-40 must have just burnt off, next time i'll use CLP, it's heat tolerant to 435 degrees which should be more than enough. I have a question about the needle clip plate however. Mine has two (2) holes showing through the slide. Depending on how you install it, it can also be reversed to show only one (1) hole through. Which is correct? Will this affect vacuum? I'm only doing one thing at a time so I can isolate the actual fix. The thought has occurred to me that if this is a common problem, and it seems to be, then this could be the reason so many Savage owners are reaving our ranks. They may just think that there is no power to this engine when all along it's just a carb problem. Easily fixed?
